Integrated Passenger Information System

Integrated Passenger Information System is a single control providing announcement for announcing train information to passengers and visual information using LED display boards and CCTV system. The LED display boards are connected to RS-485 network build based on serial communication HUBs. The Integrated Passenger Information System (IPIS) is 100% compliance to RDSO Specification no RDSO/SPN/TC/61/2007 Rev 2.0 and Amendment NO 1. The Integrated Passenger System includes

• Redundant Console Control Unit (CCU)
• LED Display boards with Serial Communication Hubs
• CCTV
• PC based announcement

The LED display boards are
• Multi Line Display Board ( MLDB) used at main entrance
• At-A Glance Display Board ( AGDB)
• Platform Display Board (PDB)
• Coach Guidance Display Board ( CGDB)

The Serial Communication Hubs are
• Main Data Communication Hub (MDCH)
• Platform Data Communication Hub ( PDCH)

CONSOLE CONTROL UNIT

• Single button click for transmitting the Train Information data to display boards and CCTV.
• Single button click for transmitting the Coach Information data to CGDB and this tightly coupled with train status
• Add and delete train information. Delete train information removes data sent to display boards and CCTV.
• Voice plays back and voice recording facility. Provision for number times repeating the same voice and also stop & pause of voice.
• In Redundant mode, the redundant CCU listens to all the activities of other CCU.
• Supports upto five digits for train number.
• Generate log, train info and Coach Info reports based on date.
• Intensity control of display boards with user time settings
• Selection of effects for special train status such as canceled, terminated, diverted etc
• Selection of effect for individual lines of MLDB
• MLDB can be configured exclusively for arrival, departure and both.
• User friendly network topology configuration
• Diagnostics of all the display boards and HUB's connected on the network, including individual LED testing of display boards.
• Provision for text based advertisements and selection of display boards for displaying advertisements.
• Supports all Indian languages including font selection etc
• Only admin user has access to write & read to database and log reports. Other user has only read facility.
• Provision of set and get hub configuration
• Provides report of complete network, in other words how display boards and hub's connected on network.
• Overall system health checks and alerts user when some thing wrong.

HUB

• Can be configurable as MDCH or PDCH
• In MDCH mode, two RS-232 ports enabled, operates @ 57.6 Kbps, connected to CCU's
• In PDCH mode, two RS-485 ports enabled, operates @ 38.4/19.2/9.6/4.8 Kbps, connected to MDCH.
• Sixteen RS-485 ports, operates @ 38.4/19.2/9.6/4.8Kbps, connected to display board etc.
• Route the data/control packets to respective destination
• Communication indications for 16 ports on the front panel.
• Checks the integrity of packets and drops corrupted packets
• All RS-232 and RS-485 ports are optically isolated
• Immune to 25KVA traction lines and EMI

MLDB

• Supports up to 10 display lines
• Displays train number, name of train, expected time, arrival/departure and platform number for multiple trains
• All the lines displays same language information simultaneously irrespective of effect of lines.
• Located at main entrance and important places
• Displays information in English and Indian languages
• Two RS-485 connectors can be used for multi drop mode. The RS-485 operates @ 38.4/19.2/9.6/4.8 Kbps. RS-485 interface is optically isolated
• Immune to 25KVA traction lines and EMI
• Supports text based advertisements

PDB

• Displays train number, name of train, expected time, arrival/departure and platform number for multiple trains
• Two RS-485 connectors can be used for multi drop mode. The RS-485 operates @ 38.4/19.2/9.6/4.8 Kbps. RS-485 interface is optically isolated
• Immune to 25KVA traction lines and EMI
• Displays information in English and Indian languages
• Suspended in the middle of the platform
• Supports single face display and double faced display
• Supports text based advertisements

AGDB

• 3-line ( 8x240 LED matrix per line) display board
• First line display train information and other lines display coach position of a train
• Two RS-485 connectors can be used for multi drop mode. The RS-485 operates @ 38.4/19.2/9.6/4.8 Kbps. RS-485 interface is optically isolated
• Immune to 25KVA traction lines and EMI
• Provided a symbol to indicate coach numbers of left and right of the Foot Over Bridge
• Displays default information as per user configuration when no trains information available.

CGDB

• Two RS-485 connectors can be used for multi drop mode. The RS-485 operates @ 38.4/19.2/9.6/4.8 Kbps. RS-485 interface is optically isolated
• Immune to 25KVA traction lines and EMI
• Display train number and coach number alternatively
• Display default information such as station name, region name, platform number etc when no train information available.

Typical network topology is as shown below figure.
